At Year’s End
After 87 posts on Tumblr, which has become my new favorite social site, I thought I’d actually post something that wasn’t a photo, video, quote or link.
The big thought for the day is my two year end columns, where I’m going to have to recap the best films and DVDs/Blu-rays. There are a lot of movies that come to mind, in no particular order, so the goal will be to keep it under 10 and see where that takes me.
I can easily name a few of my favorites, like ‘Up In The Air’, ‘(500) Days of Summer’, and ‘District 9’, but at this point I only know those were a couple of my favorites. I’m not sure they’re in the top 10.
While I can complain endlessly about how there were a lot of flops this year, it was actually a great year for movies. The success of ‘Avatar’ alone is something that I think deserves noting, if for no other reason than to praise James Cameron for actually pulling it off.
I just can’t shake the idea that no matter how much thought I put into this list I’m still going to look back in a year or two and go - “What about *this* film!? How could I have forgotten it?”
